Lip Tattoo

Aftercare Instructions

  • Do not pick, rub or peel off your scabs, to avoid bald spots, scars, or infection (itching is normal as skin is repairing itself).
  • Keep the treated area clean.
  • In 1-3 hours after your treatment wash the lips with a water and a soap or facial wash (without any acids or alcohol) and leave the area to breathe for 1-3 hours, then apply the provided vitamin ointment.
  • Please use just a small amount of ointment, a very thin layer a couple of times a day, so the skin can breathe during healing.
  • Avoid environments that would cause dirt or germs to contact the area while healing.
  • Wash daily with a light touch to remove bacteria, build-up of product and oils, and dead skin, use gentle soap. Dry with a clean tissue.
  • Do not expose the treated area to sun or sunbed (3-4 weeks after procedure).
  • If you do need to be in the sun – when the lips are fully peeled and healed (after 1 week) you can use SPF 30 or SPF 50 to protect them.
  • Moisturise with a thin layer of ointment every day, cream recommended by our technicians apply with a cotton swab, dry area (never apply on wet or damp area).
  • Keep your hair away from your face.
  • No makeup on the treated area for 4-7 days.
  • Avoid sleeping on your face, use a fresh pillowcase.
  • Avoid face-down swimming in pool, sea, lakes, and hot tubs for the first 7-10 days.
  • Avoid excessive rinsing and hot water on the treated area.
  • You can use shower and wash your face as normal but don’t keep lips very wet for a long time.
  • It is recommended to not sweat and exercise after the procedure for a couple of days.
  • Avoid spicy food/acids and heat on the first 2 days.
  • If you have had cold sores, keep taking antiviral medicine for 4 days.
  • Picking or pulling off skin that is not ready to come off will cause pigment loss and can pull out deeper tissue.
  • Do not use decorative cosmetics on the treated area for 4-7 days, moisturize only with a thin layer of the cream recommended by the technician.
  • With lip neutralisation, during the healing process, the lips will get darker before getting lighter.
  • With lip blush, during the healing process, the lips will look pale and patchy before the colour stabilises.

Above all else it is important to be patient and please don’t forget to book your touch-up in advance – at least 8-12 weeks from the initial session.
